Mell was one of the pioneering UK educationalists in Podcasters and describes himself as a 'Media Maven'. With a background in radio and video production allowing a clear insight into the new technologies that are required and how best to implement them. With over 20 years educational experience, writer, broadcaster, consultant and media practitioner. Amongst researching and exploring new technologies he also teaches Media Production in Further Education and has the position of Advanced Practitioner in Information Learning Technology. He likes to explore the next new technology and uses virtual learning environments to teach and social networking to nurture and broaden a network of media savvy ex-students and explorer of Web 2.0 as a method of educational delivery. He believes Integration of sound, video and information via the digital revolution is only just starting to be understood by some of the teaching practitioners. One of his most popular podcasts to date was Glastonbury Podcasting (www.glastonburypodcasting.com) he is current working on developing a technology show podcast, exploring Second Life and working with a small team to make the village where he lives independently Wi-fi.
